Floral Floats, Leaf containers&Banana-Leaf Work : Krathong & Ngan Baitong : กระทงและงานใบตอง พานขันหมาก: Phan khan mak = Wedding dowry tray. In Thai tradition, “phan khan mak” are brought by a groom to his bride’s family.
“Mak” (areca nuts) and “Phu” (betel leaves), “phan khan mak” makes use of leaves and flowers for their auspicious symbloksm; “ruk” (crown flowers) for love, “dao ruang” (African marigolds) for prosperity, and “ban mairurouy” (Blobe amaranths) for everlasting love. Gold and silver bags are also essential components.

Krathong dokmai (banana leaf containers for flowers) are used in conjunction with bundles of incense sticks and candles on a pedestal tray as a Buddha offering, or an offering to one’s spiritual guide at the beginning of Lent. A newly married couple brings krathong dokmai when paying respect to their elders.

ตุ้มดอกไม้: Toom Dokmai = Sewn floral finials The traditional Thai floral accessory made from flowers or petals sewn in pointed oval shapes. They are the decorative finials of Phum dokmai, traditional Thai floral domes. Petals or leaves are sewn onto long thin needles to create a pointed oval shape, generally with a crown flower at the bottom, and topped off with crown flowers and small gardenias.
